The 2022 Kia Soul is a third-generation compact crossover SUV, beloved for its distinctive styling, boxy shape, and roomy interior. It’s also a smooth driver with a standard air suspension system.
The 2022 Soul’s six trim packages range from basic to sporty, with a practical mid-range set that balances the Soul’s sensible styling with a few fun frills, like a sunroof and sport-alloy wheels.
LX and S trims
The lineup starts with the LX trim
, priced at $19,290. This base build features a 2-liter, 4-cylinder engine that gets 147 horsepower. It also comes standard with remote keyless entry, a tilt-and-telescope steering wheel, a six-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, and an 8-inch touchscreen display. Its infotainment features enable Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth streaming. You can also add on a few standard upgrades and options, like auto-dimming mirrors and mudguards.
If you level up to the 2022 Kia Soul S trim, starting at $21,950, you’ll find several driver-assistance features and 16-inch alloy wheels come standard. The S trim also has a bigger touchscreen display than the LX, along with wireless phone charging and dual-zone climate control. It has 10-way adjustable drivers seats, compared to the LX’s six-way seats. Otherwise, with the S, you’ve got all the same color options and the same engine performance as the LX.
GT-Line and X-Line trims
Next up are the GT-Line
and X-Line trims. Both are priced starting at $22,690, and the two trims share a lot of the same basic features as the S trim. They run on the same engine, offer the same driver assistance technology, and feature the same 10.25-inch touchscreen display. Both offer a six-way manually-adjustable driver’s seat. Where the GT-Line and X-Line really diverge is appearances. The X-Line goes for a more rugged look, with its 18-inch alloy wheels that are specific to the X-Line trim, a rugged exterior body trim package, and fog lights. The GT-Line has a sporty look, with 18-inch sport alloy wheels, a high gloss exterior trim package, and a power sunroof.
EX and Turbo trims
Things begin to get even more interesting with the EX trim
, starting at $23,950, and the Turbo trim, starting at $27,890. The EX comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar adjustments, heated front seats, premium cloth seat trim, a cargo cover, a power sunroof, and driver-assistance technology. As with the GT-Line, you can add wheel locks as well as the standard suite of options and accessories available from Kia.
The Turbo trim, however, makes its case for the higher price tag with its performance. Unlike the 2022 Kia Soul’s other trims, the Turbo has a 1.6L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 201 horsepower. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with paddle shifters comes standard, along with a power sunroof, 18-inch sport wheels, a sporty exterior trim, LED headlights, fog lights, heated front seats and steering wheel, and a higher-end seat cloth. Standard technology features include smartphone remote start, a premium Harman Kardon® audio system, and a supervision instrument cluster.
Key Takeaway Each 2022 Kia Soul trim level has the same engine and horsepower except the Turbo, which features a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine that delivers 201 horsepower.

How to customize your Kia Soul to save money
Often, adding upgrades and optional packages costs more money out-of-pocket, and it can even drive up the price of your car insurance. But there are a few adjustments you can make to modify your Kia that will actually save you money. Three money-saving Kia Soul customizations include:
Low-rolling resistance tires: You can save money with the right set of tires. Consider low-rolling resistance tires, which reduce the energy output required when the tires roll. This makes your vehicle more efficient and over time, can save you a lot of money.
Cold air intake: Adding a cold air intake does exactly what it sounds like: it pulls cold air into your engine and combustion chamber. This is important because cooler air allows your engine to burn fuel much more efficiently. You’ll use less gas, and you’ll get better performance out of your car.
Aerodynamic modifications: There are a few things you can do to improve the boxy Kia Soul’s aerodynamics. This includes adding a rear wing spoiler, lowering your vehicle’s height, and adding narrower tires.

If you find Kia’s customization options lacking for the 2022 Soul, you can always do a few of your own modifications to improve your car’s look, performance, and efficiency.
Tires
The Kia Soul’s standard tires are low profile, and you can go lower if that’s the look you want. But you may want to make the ride even smoother with a new set of wheels and tires with a higher sidewall. A set of all-season tires will give you great traction no matter what the weather does, and all-terrain tires can help your Kia Soul handle even the most rugged roads.
LED Installation
The 2022 Kia Soul Turbo comes with standard LED headlights, and each trim level has an available interior light kit option. But you can enhance your Soul’s functionality with a new set of LED headlights if you didn’t opt for the Turbo. And, you can get after-market interior LED lights that are brighter and bolder than the factory interior lights your car came with. White LED lights of course are the brightest, but you can opt to have your interior lighting replaced with LED bulbs in just about any color you want.
Paint
If you’re not happy with the standard exterior paint options for your Kia Soul, you can get a factory upgrade for a few hundred dollars. Kia offers some cool colors, like Cherry Black, Neptune Blue, and Mars Orange.
Or, you can get an aftermarket paint job
. Depending on your budget and timeframe, the options are almost endless when it comes to personalizing your Kia Soul with a new paint job. The bottom line is, it’s your car and you can make it look exactly the way you want with a custom paint job. How to find affordable insurance for your Kia Soul

RECOMMENDEDThis app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
