2023 Nissan Ariya ground clearance by trim level

Every trim on the Nissan Ariya boasts special features, but high ground clearance isn’t one of them. You won’t see a difference except in the price tags:
  • Venture+ ($47,125): 7.8 inches
  • Evolve+ ($50,125): 7.8 inches
  • Premiere ($54,625): 7.8 inches
  • Platinum+ ($60,125): 7.8 inches
So, what do you get at the top of the line? For starters, 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, power heated mirrors, a panoramic moonroof, power seats, Nappa leather, and Bose speakers. In addition, the first 10,000 customers to reserve an Ariya will receive a free two-year EVgo membership and $500 in charging credits
But if off-roading is your favorite pastime, you might want to invest in a model with heavy-duty suspension, advanced traction controls, and impressive height, like the
Toyota Tundra

Why you should care about ground clearance

If you charge at a field of 8-inch rocks with a car that’s only 5.5 inches off the ground, what happens? Maybe it’s best not to answer...
Just know that ground clearance—a measurement of the space between your vehicle’s chassis and the ground—is vital for off-roading. It’s especially important given that the undercarriage is where the Ariya stores its batteries, which can cost upwards of $10,000 to replace.
So, what can you do with 7.8 inches of ground clearance? You can travel at a moderate pace over gravel, which demands 6.6 to 8.7 inches of space. You won’t be able to do any over-landing (requiring 8.8 to 9.4 inches) or rock crawling (requiring a minimum of 10.8 inches) though.

Is the Nissan Ariya a good off-road vehicle?

No. The Nissan Ariya is not a great choice for off-roading.
Let’s recap: the Nissan Ariya is a premium-priced, all-electric vehicle without any specialized suspension, tires, or traction controls to make it suitable for off-roading. It has a modest 7.8 inches of ground clearance, which puts it above gravel but not rocks, tough vegetation, or hillocks. With a maximum 300 miles of range (less, if you pack it full of cargo), you might be able to make it to the cottage, but you’ll need to charge it when you arrive.
If off-roading is your thing, forget the futuristic EV and opt for something more down to Earth, like the
Jeep Wrangler
or
Ford Bronco

This app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
