background
The fastest way to charge the battery on a 2023 Lucid Air is on a 350-kW DC fast charger. In just 12 minutes, the Lucid Air can add approximately 200 miles of driving range. However, charging at home with the Lucid Mobile Charging Cable will take longer.
If you’re thinking of going electric with a luxurious battery-powered sedan like the Lucid Air, one thing you’re going to need to get used to is charging the battery. This takes longer than a quick fill-up at the gas pump, so a bit of planning will be involved. Luckily, making sure that you have enough juice to get where you’re going is something that Lucid has made fairly easy.
We’ll discuss all the different ways that you can charge your Lucid Air’s battery and how long different models will take to charge on different setups.

How long does a 2023 Lucid Air take to charge?

How long a 2023 Lucid Air takes to charge depends on what type of charging setup you’re using.
On the fastest end of the scale, a Lucid Air Pure will take about 15 minutes to charge from 20% to 80% capacity on a 350-kW DC fast charger. But if you want to charge on a 120-volt outlet at home using the cable that came with the vehicle, it’ll take approximately 78 hours to charge from 10% to 100%.
While driving ranges are different between the different versions of the 2023 Lucid Air, they all have the same 112-kWh battery pack, meaning they all charge at the same speed. However, the type of charging equipment you use will significantly affect how long it takes to charge.
Let’s take a look at all of the different options you have for charging a Lucid Air.

At-home charging speeds for a 2023 Lucid Air

Every Lucid Air comes with a Lucid Mobile Charging Cable, which comes with two adapters—one for a 120-volt outlet, and another for a 240-volt outlet. Using the mobile charging cable with a 120-volt outlet is the slowest way to charge a Lucid Air.
The 120-volt setup supplies 1.3 kW of power, meaning that if you were to charge from 0% to 100% it would take 112 kWh divided by 1.3 kW, which is just over 86 hours. With Lucid Air, that means you’re gaining less than 5 miles of range per hour.
Alternatively, you could plug your charging cable into a 240-volt outlet. At 24 amperes of current, you’ll now be able to charge with 5.7 kW of power. So if you want to charge your Lucid Air from 10% to 100% with this setup, it should take less than 18 hours
If that 240-volt outlet is pumping out the maximum 40 amps, then you can charge with a power of 9.6 kW, reducing the 10% to 100% charge time to 10.5 hours. In either case, charging on a 240-volt outlet is necessary if you want to get plenty of charge overnight to prepare you for the next day of driving.
There’s one more option that you now have access to for charging your Lucid Air, and that’s a Lucid Connected Home Charging Station, which you can preorder for $1,200. It ups the maximum current to 80 amps, slicing that 10.5-hour full-charge time in half and providing up to 80 miles of range per hour of charging, according to the manufacturer.

Public charging speeds for a 2023 Lucid Air

It’s a good idea to try to get the most out of your home charging setup for your electric vehicle, but if you plan on taking long trips or charging your car while you’re at work, you will need to familiarize yourself with public charging stations. There are two main types of public charging equipment: Level 2 chargers and Level 3 chargers, also known as DC fast chargers.
Level 2 charging stations will be capable of charging at similar speeds as your faster 240-volt home-charging setups, but Level 3 DC fast charging will still be the quickest way to charge a Lucid Air
The Lucid Air can accept up to 300 kW of power from a DC fast charger, allowing you to charge from 20% to 80% capacity in less than 15 minutes. Bear in mind that fast charging speeds are significantly reduced once you’ve charged up to 80% to preserve battery life.
To provide you with some incentive to use public chargers, the Lucid Air comes with one to two years of free charging on Electrify America’s charging network, depending on which trim you buy.
