Does driving history transfer from state to state?
I’m moving from Texas to Oklahoma for a new job, and I’m pretty excited about it. Finding a place has been easy, and I already have a friend or two. My only issue is with my car insurance. I had a few tickets in Texas, but my car insurance hasn’t renewed yet. I know I need to switch my insurance to an Oklahoma policy as well. But will my driving history transfer from state to state?

are part of the Driver License Compact.The Driver License Compact is an association of 45 states and the District of Columbia that share every driver’s history. If you move between these states, your driving history will always follow you.
However, five states aren’t in the Driver License Compact, so they don’t share the driving record of their citizens. These states include:
- Georgia
- Massachusetts
- Michigan
- Tennessee
- Wisconsin
