Does GEICO check driving records?

I’ve gotten several speeding tickets in the past three years, so when I got my car insurance renewal notice, I wasn’t surprised that my rate has increased. However, my friend uses GEICO and says they have great rates. I was thinking about switching, but I’m not quite sure if it’s worth it. Will GEICO check my driving record?

GEICO
, like all insurance companies, will check your driving record before selling you car insurance.
Every single car insurance company checks your driving record to assess your risk as a driver.
Speeding tickets
and other
moving violations
will raise your rates, although every company has a unique formula for calculating the exact increase.
You may still be able to save money due to other reasons, such as:
  • Being a
    student
    with good grades
  • Being
    married
  • Bundling
your auto insurance with home insurance
  • Serving in the military
  • Having good credit
Keep in mind: You can also get a cheaper rate over time with no tickets. If you can maintain a
spotless driving record
, car insurance companies will reward you with a
lower premium
