Does the Hyundai warranty transfer to a new owner?
I’m selling my Hyundai, and one of the potential buyers asked me about warranty coverage. I’m not sure what to tell them. Does the warranty transfer to whoever buys my old Hyundai?

Great question! The Hyundai warranty does transfer to the new owner, but with a couple of changes. As long as the car isn’t over ten years old or over 100,000 miles, the new owner will receive up to five years/60,000 miles of warranty coverage.
Here’s a breakdown of the Hyundai warranty and which elements transfer to the new owner, with the coverage starting the year you originally bought the car:
- 10-Year/100,000-Mile Powertrain Limited Warranty (Original Owner Only)
- Lifetime Hybrid Battery Warranty (Original Owner Only)
- 12-Month/12,000-Mile Replacement Parts and Accessories Limited Warranty
- 8-Year/80,000-Mile Federal Emission Defect and Performance Warranty
- 7-year/Unlimited-Mile Anti-Perforation Warranty
- 5-Year/60,000-Mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty
- 5-Year/Unlimited-Mile 24-Hour Roadside Assistance
- 7-Year/70,000-Mile California Emission Control Systems Warranty
