Your dad is correct that you should check the power steering fluid level on your Honda Odyssey. When you are low on fluid, this can cause heat and friction in the vehicle, which can be damaging. Don’t worry though, it’s super easy!
To check the power steering fluid:
Open the hood
of your Odyssey. Locate the power steering fluid reservoir. It will be labeled.Use a clean rag to wipe off any grease on the outside of the reservoir. Notice the two lines on the outside of the reservoir. One is the maximum fill line; the other is the minimum.
Compare the level of remaining fluid to the marks on the reservoir. This will help you indicate how much power steering fluid you have remaining.
Remove the cap on the reservoir and put it aside. Add power steering fluid to the reservoir.
Stop when the fluid level is in the middle of the high and low marks.
Put the cap back on the reservoir. Close the hood.
Now, you know how to check your fluid levels next time!
