How do I turn off lane assist in my 2021 Toyota Highlander?
I’ve been driving my 2021 Toyota Highlander for a few months now, and though I appreciate the lane assist feature, I find the alerts to be unnecessary at times. Is it possible to turn off lane assist in my 2021 Toyota Highlander?

Many Toyota vehicles are equipped with Toyota’s Safety Sense feature, including the 2021 Toyota Highlander. While this feature is intended to help drivers avoid swerving and veering in and out of a lane, it isn’t always needed.
The Lane Departure Assist (LDA) feature, when turned on, activates once your car hits a speed of 32 mph. Using a windshield camera to detect the lines of lanes, the system will alert you of lane departure using audio and visual alerts. However, in instances when you don’t need these alerts, they can be distracting.
To turn off Toyota’s LDA feature, follow these simple steps:
- Find the LDA button, located on your steering wheel. The button looks like a vehicle swerving out of its lane
- Press the LDA button to turn on the LDA system
- Press the LDA button again to turn off the LDA system
Once the system has been turned off, it will remain off until you decide to switch it on again.
