How do you burnout in a manual transmission?

I’m getting ready to head to a car show, and I want to be able to show off my new sports car with a sweet burnout. It’s a manual transmission so I know it shouldn’t be too hard, but how do I do it?

Doing a burnout is a great way to pull attention to you and your car at a car show, and it’s pretty simple to learn how to do a burnout in a manual transmission car.
To do a burnout in any manual transmission, follow these steps:
  • Put the car in first gear, depress the clutch, and rev the engine to a high RPM
  • Front-wheel drive: lock the handbrake, release the clutch, and watch the smoke rise as your front tires burnout.
  • Rear-wheel drive: release the clutch, and move your foot to the brake pedal to keep your car stationary while your rear wheels spin.
Be warned: while doing burnouts can make you stand out, it also puts a lot of wear on your car’s engine, transmission, and tires. Burning out for too long can also burn out your clutch, cause your car to overheat, and cause blowouts—all of which can lead to very costly repair bills. And that’s all assuming you don’t lose control and total your car.
