How do you open the gas tank on a Toyota Highlander?
My brother let me borrow his SUV so I could move some big items to my house. I don’t want to return his Highlander empty, but I can’t figure out how to open the gas tank so I can refuel. How do I open the gas tank on a Toyota Highlander?

That’s very helpful of your brother and very thoughtful of you to refuel his car! The Toyota Highlander has a
unique structure
—the pressure in the fuel tank has to go down before you refuel—so it’s good to learn the right way to open the tank. Here’s what you need to do:Press the fuel tank switch (on the dash below the steering wheel).
Wait about 10 seconds for the door to open.
Unscrew the fuel tank cap and hang it on the back of the fuel door.
Refuel the Highlander and screw the cap back on the tank.
After you finish refueling, simply
push the fuel door closed
