How long does it take to replace an intake manifold?

I’m supposed to drop my car off at the shop today to have the intake manifold replaced. I live pretty far from the shop so I’m looking for things to occupy my time while I wait for them to finish. About how long can I expect to be waiting? What’s a normal amount of time for a manifold replacement?

Like any repair, how long it takes to replace an intake manifold is going to depend on the type of car you have, how busy the shop is, and how experienced the technician is at that particular task. In most cases, it takes two to four hours for the entire process to be complete.
Removing the old intake manifold only takes about 40 minutes, but installing the new one and reassembling takes much longer. If you haven’t heard from the shop in five hours, I would give them a call to check on the status. Depending on when you dropped the vehicle off, you may even need to come back the next day.
