Is I-80 a toll road in Illinois?

I’m going from Iowa to South Bend, Indiana, to see my beloved Fighting Irish play their football home opener. However, I’ve never taken the route before, and I want to avoid toll roads if possible. In Illinois, is I-80 a toll road?

I-80 is a toll road in
Illinois
, but only for a short distance. The toll on I-80 only extends from the Indiana state line to the I-294 exit, and vice versa. This stretch is known as the Tri-State Tollway.
The Tri-State Tollway is the fastest way to get to Indiana, and you’ll only pay between $0.60 and $2.80, depending on where you enter the toll road. You can always choose the no toll road option in Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze if you want to avoid the tolls, but the journey will take a bit longer.
