I just bought a car for my son’s 18th birthday. But before I give it to him this weekend, I’d like to change the oil and filter. What kind of oil does a 2015 Chrysler 200 take?

You didn’t say what size engine the Chrysler 200 has, so first consult the owner’s manual to find out. This is important because Chrysler actually recommends two different weights, depending upon the engine: the 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder engine takes a 0W20 weight oil and the larger 3.6 V6 engine takes a 5W20 weight.
In terms of choosing a brand,
Chrysler
recommends MOPAR®, Penzoil, or Shell Helix API Certified, but if you’re choosing another brand, they say to check to make sure the oil meets
Chrysler Material Standard MS-6395—look for these numbers: MS-6395.A professional oil change for your son’s 2015 Chrysler 200 should run you around $100 to $125. If you’re changing the oil and filter yourself, you’ll want to purchase 5.5 quarts if it is the 2.4-liter engine and 5.9 if it is the 3.6-liter engine.
Tell your son to be sure to regularly change his 2015 Chrysler 200’s oil at least twice a year or every 7,500 to 10,000 miles if he is using synthetic oil and every 3,000 to 5,000 miles if he is using conventional oil.
