Learning how to use an OBD scanner isn’t difficult—just follow these basic instructions:
Make sure your CR-V is turned off, then plug your scanner into the port.
Turn your CR-V back on, and enter the information requested by the scanner—usually the car’s vehicle identification number (VIN) or its make, model, and year.
Go to your scanner’s menu.
Select the “active” or “pending” codes option.
At this point, your scanner will let you know if it found any problems by displaying trouble codes. Most scanners don’t define the codes for you, but you can find out what they mean by using an error code book or looking them up online. Then, use the codes to decide if you want to try to diagnose and fix the problem yourself, or
